
Shop Talk at SFMOMA
On Thursday, May 12th, we participated in a panel discussion at The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art alongside Cheryl Meeker and Lara Durback. The panel was the third such panel presented as part of the "Shop Talk" series. Each panel sought to evaluate the ways artists restructure and recondition the art markets. Our presentation was about the economic realities of being an artist.
For the 20 minutes granted to us prior to the discussion, we presented evidence that suggests art has lost a utilitarian component that has contributed to an economic inefficiency in the pricing of post world war II and contemporary works of art.
